Installing new plastic guttering on a house can be a straightforward process. Here's a simplified step-by-step guide to help you through the process:
  • Measure and plan: Start by measuring the length of the area where you want to install the guttering. Make a list of the lengths of gutter and downpipe and the fittings required. Our booklet can be used for easy reference to write down the quantities needed in the price table.

  • Items required: You'll need plastic gutter lengths, gutter fittings, downpipe, downpipe fittings, gutter screws, a tape measure, a pencil / marker pen, a saw, a drill, a ladder, and safety equipment like gloves and goggles.

  • Start to install: Determine the slope for proper water flow and plan the downspout placement. Mark the positions for the gutter brackets, ensuring they are evenly spaced. Use the drill and screws to attach the gutter brackets to the fascia board. Make sure they are securely fastened and evenly spaced approximately every half meter.

  • Cutting the gutter sections: Measure the length needed for each section of guttering and mark it with a pencil. Use a saw to cut the guttering at the marked locations. Trim the edges if necessary to ensure there are no rough edges that could affect the seals and joints.

  • Install the guttering sections: Once the brackets and joints are in position the plastic gutter will clip in by placing the far side in first and then twisting downwards. Make sure that any rubbers of seals are correctly in position to stop any leaks.

  •  Install the downspouts: Measure and cut the downspout sections as needed. Attach the downspout fittings to the guttering outlet and secure the downspout sections together. Position the downspout against the wall and secure it with brackets. Ideally the water should be direct to a drain, or the shoe outlet will help direct the water away from the building.

  • Test the installation: Run water through the guttering to check for any leaks or improper water flow. Adjust as necessary, ensuring that water drains properly toward the downspouts.

Remember, this is a simplified overview, and it's important to consult the manufacturer's instructions for specific details regarding your chosen guttering system. Additionally, if you're not comfortable working at heights or with power tools, it's recommended to hire a professional to ensure a safe and accurate installation.
