Prismatic ceiling tiles are manufactures from light transmitting polystyrene and are placed into the grid when batten lights are installed on the ceiling to become an aperture for the light to transmit through. These products solve a problem for older properties, but newer installations will use special light fittings that slot directly into the grid instead of a tile, which makes changing bulbs much easier.
